Due to the increased sophistication of cyber criminals, it is good to have guidelines to identify fraudulent websites or users.

1. Check for the user's email, most fraudulent prone users will use free email services.
2. Check the validity of residential or business address given.
3. Check domain name, use whois tools to identify the Billing Contact and the Administrative Contact.
4. Check if the user uses or try to associate with well known banks and organizations. Most fraudulent cases involve the cyber criminal to associate them with well known brand in attempt to get recognition.
5. Generally, business that claims they can generate more then 30% of ROI in a short term has very high chance to be fraudulent.

Lastly, you may check with the database or identified fraudulent site at the Artists Against 419 .

Generally free email are easy to use to fraud people because the responsible people are not easily tracked because so many people use the same service like Yahoo!.

So when you're going to report fraud, you need to specific your time and your message including the full header.

- on top of that, fraud order normally come with big amount or order for the highest package offered by a provider.
- they normally will not respond to you in the case if you send them any letter for them to fill in for verification purpose

There are quite a lot of fraud checking application available now in the market where you can embed them into your online order system to filter and reduce fraud order.

But how good is fraud check if you lose out on customers this way? For me , some of the points fit but I do always pay my hosting and have only legal activity. Like I sign up with this host and they ban me even tho I was customer there before and always paid in time. Another had valentines day offer for like 14 cent for 6 months if I remember.. I paid with paypal all fine.. Bam.. Also rejected. So from my experience I would say if an Hoster rejects customers they should re-check that they dont lose out on too many legit customers! I mean its pretty annoying going to all the signup process wanting to upload your site and then they suddenly reject you for no reason cos you use a free mail?! ok i do use "better" mail for webhosts as its important thing, but still most internet users have a lot of different emails cos of spam etc so dont judge a user by his email only xD
